Unit 32 Stop Motion Evaluation 1/Jul/2010

For this project I had a group, which had four colleagues. We all were in a group to make a stop motion animation. We, as a group, determined to make a Claymation animation for our project.

I struggled quite a few times during this project, even though I had a good talented group that were there to help at all times. The modelling clay was not very good because it would become futile after some hours. This would be time wasting also it would be hard to copy the character like it was before. Therefore my group and I decided that we should keep the old character and let it stay the same, but this wouldn’t look much professionalised.

There was a major problem in our project that was time; this is because we all did ¼ each of the stop motion and whilst doing this we needed to know where the last team mate finished off. Therefore we all took it in turns, but if one individual took more time the next person would be struggling as he’d have less time. Fortunately we all did it in time and the stop motion was made on its deadline.

The plan above shows us who did what and how much time we spent on it. As we planned before the stop motion animation we were prepared therefore we succeeded, but we did not do it exact the same as we planned it. We split up in doing everything this helped because we all did everything equal amount.

I had also planned that I will be using these characters I have designed but I was not able to do so due to the problems I had with the clay I was unable to make it similar the drawing on my models are shown below

My inspiration of stop motion Claymation came from ‘Wallace and Gromit’, which is a classical stop motion Claymation animation. It was very popular because of its bright colours that were used, also cause of the shapes that the Claymation characters were in it looked fantastic. We took quite a few ideas from ‘Wallace and Gromit’ Claymation.
